RADON DETEK canisters were developed by TCS Industries to be fast absorbing and efficient. These canisters meet EPA requirements and are device listed by the EPA. There are 2 types of canisters available. The 100 gram unit is designed for a 2 day (48 hour) screening. For better environmental averaging, the diffusion barrier canister is designed for a 3-5 day test. Simply return the canister to TCS in a mailer provided. It is analyzed with computer based equipment on the same day it is received, and a confidential report is e-mailed that day or mailed on the next business day. There are NO additional lab fees.
Long term detectors (alpha tracks) are designed to span a period of 91days to 1 year. It is to be used if a short term test has already been done, and the result was below 10 pCi/l.
Radon water tests should be done if there is a well, and a short or long term test has shown an elevated radon level of 4.0 pCi/l or more.
Analysis results for long term detectors and radon water kits are available in about 2 weeks.
