Our business was originated by Carl Distenfeld, a person with over 45 years of professional experience in radiation protection. He was certified emeritus by the American Board of Health Physics, earned a BS in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Nuclear Engineering. He was principal author of over 40 scientific papers in radiation protection.

The two additional full time staff members have served TCS since its inception, and the most recent have over 28 years of operational experience. All have earned at least Bachelor degrees.

Our staff is fully certified by the Radon Division of the Pennsylvania Dept of Environmental Protection, PA DEP to operate our in-house radon measurement laboratory.

TCS Industries Inc laboratory is also certified by PA DEP.

We routinely perform radon calibration measurements utilizing our charcoal based detectors that are registered with the National Radon Safety Board, NRSB.

We have regularly participated with the US Department of Energy Radon Gas Intercomparison Studies.

Since 1986, TCS has analyzed over 200,000 charcoal canisters, made thousands of real estate related radon measurements, and has conducted a significant number of industrial radon measurements, including one account of 3 buildings totaling over 750,000 square feet. Further, TCS has held the contract with the PA DEP to provide and analyze charcoal canisters for the Pennsylvania Newborn Program multiple times.
